Storyline - Elements Moving when viewing Project

Sep 21, 2020

A colleague has had an instance when previewing their project in Storyline (slide view vs project preview) where some of the elements move (e.g. text boxes).  Once the project is uploaded to Litmos the problem seems to sort itself out.  Has anyone else experienced this and have a resolution?  Thanks

Hi Mel!

I'm interested to see what might be causing the slide content to move! First, which version of Storyline are you using? Also, are you looking at the project in a specific browser? If so, try using a different browser to see if that does the trick.

I'm happy to take a look at the file! You can share your file in this discussion by using the Add Attachment button.

Hi Lauren!

I've attached the problem file to this comment. Slide 1.2 contains the element that moves on preview, but several of the other speech bubbles have their ends cut off.

It also turns out that this problem is actually persisting when uploaded to Litmos (previous files have fixed themselves upon uploading).

We're using Storyline 360, build 3.43.22859.0.

Hi Lauren,

I think the caption was probably copied and pasted from an earlier scene. The bubble in 1.2 can't be selected directly, but it can still be edited by selecting the caption in the timeline and editing its states.

Replacing the speech bubble fixes that slide, but the speech bubbles in the other slides still move or change shape regardless of whether they've been replaced.

Hello Terri!

I am seeing the exact same! I've tried a number of different steps including copying the caption, pasting it in a new project, and then copying it back into the original project. As you said, that's hit or miss.

For example, on the third slide, I tried that and it didn't work. However, creating a new caption displayed perfectly. Here's a quick screenshot of that!
