Storyline Feedback master

Jul 02, 2013

Good day

I'm having the following issue, when a user clicks on a submit button without answering a question it shows an Invalid Answer response layer, now my issue is that my Invalid Answer response layer is white with a transparent background. How do I find this layer so that I can edit it, I tried looking for it in my feedback master but cant find it.

Hi there Maumo,

I'm sorry, but the "Invalid Answer" prompt you're seeing is actually a part of the player itself. If you want to modify the text, you could edit the player labels, but the actual design of the prompt won't be available in the Master or Feedback Master.

Here are some things that you can do to customize it:

  • You can change the Invalid Answer text by customizing Storyline's text labels (the Invalid Answer text comes from items 17, 18, & 19)
  • You can also change the colors on the pop-up (check out this job aid if you need help identifying which parameters to change).
  • If you'd like to completely change the visual design of the message, you could use the method shown here. It involves creating your own slide layer for the Invalid Answer message, and using a trigger to tell Storyline when to display that layer. It's a little more work, but it might give you the customized look that you're after.

I hope this helps!

Have a great day :)

Hi there Maumo!

If you're receiving that prompt/message even when an answer is selected, it may be an issue with the actual question. Are you sure all of the drop objects or targets are selected in the question setup? Sounds like one/some of them may be missing.

If you'd like, you're welcome to share the .STORY file here. I'd be happy to take a peek and see what's happening. Keep in mind though, that the forum doesn't support large files, so if you receive an error when attaching, it may be too big. If that's the case, you're welcome to share it privately, through a support case.

Thanks!
