Storyline Freezing
Apr 29, 2014

My storyline has been freezing since Friday, April 25th. I am doing a video and am trying to insert text boxes after recording. When I stop to insert, the voice starts at a different place and the boxes etc... are ending up in the wrong place when I publish. I can't get anything done. I have closed all other applications on my computer, but this does not help.

Hi Kim,
Sorry to hear about the trouble!
First, please make sure that you're working with a local project file when you modify or publish your project. If you're working on a network drive, or any other external storage, that might be causing the trouble.
Additional information regarding "Naming Files, Paths, and Namespaces" in Windows operating systems can be found in the following Microsoft article.
Please make sure you're running the most recent version of Storyline. Articulate Storyline Update 5 includes bug fixes, performance improvements, and HTML5 output enhancements. Click here for details.
If you're already working locally with your Storyline project files and you've updated, it may help to run a quick repair:

If running the repair does not solve the problem, please try following the troubleshooting steps outlined in the following article:
Unexpected or Erratic Behavior in Articulate Storyline
Let me know if you see any improvement, or if you still experience the crashing/freezing.
Thanks!
Thank you.
I added additional memory to my laptop to try and reduce the change of it crashing on me. Currently working on a file that is 500+ slides. Takes a while to load up and to save. They definitely need to add the Autosave option into Storyline
I am also having this issue and I am working off the C: drive and the published output is under 260 characters and I have the latest version. SO FRUSTRATING!
I'm now getting this error message on saving
System memory is not the issue as I have 16GB available
Hi Alexandra,
It may not be that the computer memory as a whole isn't enough, but that there are other things drawing on the memory. You may want to try closing down all other programs while working in Storyline and see if the file's behavior gets a bit faster or able to run more smoothly.
