Storyline freezing when closing the application

May 08, 2012

Hello all,

Storyline is indeed an excellent application, and I've having a great time discovering all the new features and ways I'm going to do things from now on.

However, at least 1 in every 3 times I Exit from Storyline, it hangs. I have to Ctrl-Alt-Del to force a close. Anyone else experiencing this?

My system is Windows XP Professional SP3, Dell Latitude E6420, 1929MB, Quad 2.5 Ghz Intel Core i5-2520M, 190Gb free disk space.

Many thanks,

Barry

Hi Barry,

Can you submit a support case to us so that we can take a closer look at the issue?

During the case submission process, you'll have an opportunity to record a screencast to show us the issue.  If you can, record a screencast that shows where Storyline hangs and it'll help us diagnose the issue.

Thanks, Peter. That was the issue, and thanks for sending the link. We have quizzes that use the report and also need the timer--both are essential to our product. Unfortunately, this will have a negative impact on us.  I wish I had seen the comparison matrix before my manager purchased two licenses of the software, although it is a great product.  I can only hope that feature will be supported at some point.

Hey Nancy,

Really sorry you hadn't seen that first. If there's ever anything you'd like to see in future versions of our products, we offer a feature request form for our customers. Our development team sees every single one that comes through, so please feel free to share your input.

As far as maybe finding a workaround, is it the results of the quizzes that you need to track? If so, you may be interested in learning more about Tin Can

Please don't hesitate to ask if there's anything else we can help with.

At this point, having the ability to launch our quizzes in the other platforms is useless for us since they require a timer.  Would the timer feature even be available if the LMS supports the Tin Can API?  Either way, if I need to submit a feature request to ask that this quiz property  be added to the HTML5 and mobile app platforms, I will do so.

As for the report file, we don't offer correct answers in the print results file, only the incorrect ones, so it becomes a study guide for the learner.  Yes, the user could use the Review Quiz feature and, going through it, write down each question they got wrong, but with a long quiz, this could result in a daunting task. Just having a non-functioning button can result in a lot of frustrated callers.
