Storyline HTML 5 issues
Aug 11, 2016
Hello.
We are having major issues with a simple interaction in Storyline when published for html 5.
Basically the interaction has clickable hotspots, which call other layers and change the state of 8 buttons, identifying the hazards.
The interaction works flawlessly in the Storyline preview and the publish in internet explorer.
When published and tested in google chrome (html5) the button stetaes do not function as desired.
I am happy to send the .story file to you to assess.
Many thanks,
Pete (Oilennium)

Pete, sharing your file would be helpful, but the first thing I'd recommend without seeing it is to avoid using the built-in states for your buttons (Normal, Visited, Selected, etc.).
Custom image states seem to work much more reliably when changing states via triggers.
Hope this helps,
B
Hi Pete,
Also make sure you're testing the published output by uploading it to your LMS or website, as testing the HTML5 or Flash content locally can sometimes cause you to encounter security restrictions from the browser.
Thanks All,
Removing the standard states from the buttons (hover, selected etc.) resolved the issue. The interaction now works perfectly.
Awesome, great to hear, thanks for sharing the solution here.
What I find helpful, because sometimes leaving the default states is needed for button functionality, is duplicate the default states I want to trigger (primarily "Normal") and create custom states.
Thanks for your help Brian!
Publishing for html 5 is a bit of a learning curve!
Glad to help, and yes I agree with you on HTML5. Hopefully the default image states will be more dependable (when using triggers) in the next upgrade of the software
Thanks for that update Pete and glad to hear it.
