Storyline loading screen blocks view, can't be minimized

Aug 25, 2018

Hi, everyone.

I've wondered for some time why there isn't a 'minimize' option for the Storyline loading screen. There are times when it can take a while for the app to load (the 'initializing commands' part is what takes longest--attached), and it's always in the foreground--no moving it, and no moving another window over top of it.

During that time, I essentially can't use my system, so I do other things; make notes, pour coffee, ponder the nature of the universe...

Is there some option I'm missing? Every other program I use allows me to move/minimize it so I can carry on with work while it's doing its thing.

I've submitted a feature request, and perhaps others would like to do the same if they find it an issue.

Thanks!

Allan

Hi Allan,

We're glad you're using Storyline to create wonderful e-learning projects!

Apologies for what you're experiencing while the app is loading and you cannot use your system.

I've tested this on my local, but this does not seem to happen.

Have you tried clicking outside the Storyline splash screen and attempted to use other apps while waiting for the loading process?

I tried to do the same, used Notepad and I was able to type while the Storyline splash screen is still on.

I did not tweak any settings upon installation of Storyline that could've affected this behavior.

Please find attached video of my test.

For reference purposes, the version I tested on is Storyline 360, v3.19.16600.0.

What exact version of the app are you using?

Allan,

Searching further, what you reported seems to be a known issue when it involves large projects.

Thank you for taking time out to submit a feature request for this one.

This has also been brought to the attention of our team, as currently there is no way to change the loading behavior of Storyline.

We'll keep you posted if there are updates to your request.

Thanks!

Thanks, Eric and Ashley.

Yes, I've tried with a number of programs, and cannot bring anything in front of the loading screen via any method. When I have my laptop linked to my second monitor, I can at least work on one screen while SL is loading.

Having a minimize/close option would be a major improvement. In the meantime, I'll do more contemplating of the universe. :)

Regardless, I love Storyline.

Allan
