I keep getting this message and have no idea how to "unlock" my file - I tried turning off the Storyline Process in the System Control window, but it pops right back up and on.
are you working from your local drive? I’ve seen this pop up occur when I’ve been saving to/from an external/network drive or in the process of uploading to Dropbox and the connection is lost.
try making a copy of the .story file and renaming it.
Thank you SO MUCH for this solution! I was terrified I'd lost my work. I've only saved to my local drive but still encountered this problem. Thank God for the community!
Which piece did you try/confirm? If you'd been working off a network or shared drive, that would likely be contributing to the behavior, so I'd look at importing a copy of your project into a new Storyline file as shown here.

Yay Shannon! Glad that helped you - all the best with your project :-)
This solution is not working for me. Any other suggestions or solutions?
