I've recently published a story on which I want to have the menu enabled so viewers can skip from chapter to chapter if they wish, but the menu hyperlinks aren't working. Any ideas why? (Storyline 2)
After publishing my story, and upon viewing it, I want my users to be able to use the menu and to click on the "chapter" titles to skip over sections of the video if they desire.
The hyperlinks in the table of contents on the menu aren't working, and I'm not sure why. If I missed a step to enable them, or something else.
It's too big to send via email. Can you give me a shared location I can upload it to?
Hi Carrie! Looks like Terry is assisting you here, but I just wanted to pop in and let you know that replying to the forums via e-mail attaches your signature, but you are welcome to pop in and edit if needed.
I am kind of stumped on this one. I looked everywhere for anything that would lock down the navigation but I couldnt find anything... have you tried rebuilding the project by copying into a new storyline file? Thats all I could think of that might work... Otherwise I would submit this to Articulates tech people as a broken application.
I went in and rebuilt the course, copying the items on each slide to the new file, rather than copying the slide itself. I hope I got eveything put back where it was, so you might want to go through and look at the timing of stuff, but it definitely allows me to navigate throught he course using the side menu now.
The only other thing that might be different is the color scheme of the player... but that should be easy for you to change.
So using the file you sent me, Terry, yes. Everything works. However, if I make any adjustments to it, the menu stops working again.
I have no idea why, and frankly, I'm tired of messing with this. I've rebuilt the story 3 times now. At this point, I'm leaving it without a working menu.
But please, let me know if a solution is found. Thanks.
I appreciate that, but it's more than just changing a setting. Most of the graphics and what not have to be resized and it takes awhile. I've done it twice today and it's taken me over 2 hours each time.
Well if you want to send me one of the versions that are setup right graphically I can copy it to a fresh version like I did earlier. Although I am at the end of my day I could get to it first thing tomorrow morning and send it back to you... here is the one I did earlier stretched to 16:9

Carrie,
a few questions for you:
1) Are you linking to a pdf, another part of your course, or website?
2) If linking to a site, is it located on an internal network?
3) If a PDF, what is the location of the file in comparison to your .story file?
4) could you share your story file?
It's actually the Table of Contents in the Menu, which I should correct in the original post. It's not hyperlinks within the story itself.
So you are describing broken buttons or hotspots in the tabel of contents slide of your course?
Could you share it so i can take a look?

I dont have a shared account. I have an idea though. Click on the player menu in the top tool bar in articulate.
choose the menu button from the window that pops up, shown in the pic "capture1"
then select the gear shown in the bottom right corner of "Capture2"
In the dropdown arrow next to navigation restrictions, select free, as shown in "capture3"

Thanks Leslie. I paid no attention so thanks for letting me know!
No worries on our part Carrie, just wanted you to be aware :)
did what I suggested help?
Terry, Navigation Restrictions are all already set to Free.
If you had a shared drive, i could download the .story file from there. Just post the link on here.

Yes, I did copy it into a new file and nothing worked. I'll submit it. Thank you.
Please update me on what they say... I gotta know what is going on with this!
In the mean time i will try to copy it over to my version of SL2 in hope that my application will fix it. If it does, i will get it back to you.
I fixed it!!!

Hi Carrie,
It looks like Terry has you covered here and I see you're also working with Ryan so I'll let him know about this forum thread as well!

what are you changing, if you dont mind me asking...
Right now it seems to me like your installation of Articulate might be corrupted.
Maybe Ryan can help you with fixing your Installation or even reinstalling a fresh copy?
It needs to be widescreen, not 4:3. That's the only change I'm trying to make.
That's what I'm thinking too. There's too much going on here for it to be just one thing, it has to be the entire installation is bad.
Thanks again,
Carrie
where do you change that? i can change it on mine and send it back to you.
** i found the option, what size do you need?
