Storyline, Meridian Global LMS and File Sharing

Apr 18, 2013

Hoping to get the advantage of the community's expertise, so thanks in advance!

Just to get this question and discussion going ...

The need:  Access video training modules for tracking and reporting  via a central LMS (Meridian Global) from local storage devices at over 100 satellite offices.

The challenge:  How to get Articulate and LMS to recognize the embedded videos from a local storage device rather than from the LMS server.

Several Questions:

Is AICC the best format for this and why?

How would this work?

Why not use Scorm with an absolute reference on the root directory?

Barbara are you wanting a user to access a course via your LMS but to load the videos from local storage?  If that is the case it is never going to happen.

Or are you wanting them to run the course locally and then report to your LMS again this is next to impossible unless you use TinCan.

If you want to pull the videos from a streaming server then you are likely going to need to insert them as a web object or create a flash player to load them.

Not sure if I really understand your question

Sorry for the late reply ... been working on the AICC issue.

- Flash player objects are not an option

- Not a caching server

- Yes, I do want to launch the course from everyone's local server -- all 120 of them.

I inserted the video from 'a' local device as a file and it encoded it as a publication.

Not sure I'm on track with this, but it was mentioned that Articulate could work with this.
