I am trying to preview and publish a Storyline Project that includes a 55 minute mp3 file. However, every time I try to preview, it says 'Preparing slide 1 of 2' with the green bar not progressing further than 1/4 of the way. The same thing happens when I try to publish. The Storyline file and the audio are stored on my local C: drive. I had my on-site tech support update/reinstall but the same results are occurring. I am working on a very tight deadline. Any suggestions on correcting this?
Is the course only two slides long? What's the total file size of the course? Are you using Storyline 1 or Storyline 2? Are you publishing to a local drive as well?
Have you tried to import the course into a new project as described here?
Yes, the course is only 2 slides. The first slide is the audio recording and the second slide contains a button for them to click to obtain course credit. The total side is 52.9 MB and I am using Storyline 1. I have tried publishing to the local drive as well as my network drive with both ending in the same stalled result. I also tried importing the course into a new project and that did not change the result either.
Are you working on your .story file on your local drive as well - saving and editing there, in addition to publishing? Without seeing the course, it could be that something has happened to it when working off a network drive and the import solution works sometimes - but not always. Have you tried to re-add these elements into a brand new file?
Yes - I tried redoing the course from scratch on the local drive. I am still experience the same issue. Any suggestions on how to resolve this? I have a compliance course that needs to be done this week and I am still needing to publish and have it tested before I can upload to our production LMS. Any help you can provide as soon as possible would be appreciated. Thanks!
Update: I was able to publish it by cutting the audio into multiple segments. So I was able to get it to work with this work around. But seeing as I haven't had to do that before, if this could still be looked into further I would greatly appreciate it! Thanks!
Have you had files that large before and they worked successfully publishing? You're also publishing to your local drive as well, correct? I'd also try shutting down any other programs or apps that could be eating up memory.
If you'd like us to take a look at the .story file and test publish it as well - please let me know and I'll send you directions on how to share with me.
