Storyline Numeric Question Slide

Jul 13, 2012

Hi, I am trying to find my way around SL and pretty quickly came across this problem. I have put  a number of numeric question slides together, however, when I press the submit button the slide does not advance as it does in the other multple choice slides.

Is this a setting issue?

Hi Peter,  many thanks for getting back to me its appreciated, however this issue has now been resolved.  That said I now have another problem which you may be able to help with, I have added transitions to most of the slides but on one particular slide as the slide exits to the right it reveals a white screen/blank slide momentarily then displays the next slide?

There is no slide between them so I assume I have a setting wrong, or maybe something to do with the timeline?

If you can help it would be great!

Many thanks

Clive

Sure thing, Clive And sorry, I was under the impression that you were experiencing the issue on a published version of your course. If you want others to view your published Articulate content but don't have a web server, one quick way to share your course is to sign up for a free Dropbox account:

http://dropbox.com

Then upload your published content to the Public folder in your Dropbox account as demonstrated in this video screencast:

Or, publish directly to your Dropbox\Public folder as demonstrated in this video screencast:

Hi Peter,
Well lets see if I have followed the instructions correctly! I now have dropbox, which seems like a fantastic facility, if I can use it!
I'm sure I will get there in the end, but if you would take a look at the course I would appreciate it, that is if it is actually at the end of the link?
Best Regards
Clive

Hey Rebecca

That's weird, regarding Dropbox. Have you tried Amazon S3?

Hi Peter,

Sorry I was unclear. When I said I couldn't publish there, I should have said I SHOULDN'T publish there - to a public folder. Proprietary info. Sorry to be so delayed in replying. Got really busy and wasn't able to go through my posts.

Hi

I searched for topics related to numeric value quiz questions not advancing - I found this topic but the user has said their issue is sorted but now why/how!   I am having this problem, I have looked around all the settings, tried different things but each time I preview the scene the other quiz questions all work fine but this one does not advance to the next question or the results slide.  I don't know what I am doing wrong but basically it's a real simple question:   'How many insurance policies are there?'  The answer is '5'.  That's it.  Not too complicated.   Can anyone help me work out what's wrong??!

Thanks!

Hi Dave!

Correct, this looks like an issue we're currently working on. However, you should be able to get this working pretty quickly. What you'll want to do is add a trigger to your quiz slide that jumps to the next slide when the user clicks on "Submit".

It should look something like this:

If you're still not able to get this working, can you share the .STORY file?

Thanks!

Hi David,

I'm not seeing any associated cases for the members above who experienced this. Are you able to share your .story file here, or send it to us privately, so we can take a look at it?

Thanks!

Hi Peter,

Many thanks for the reply, it's much appreciated.

I have take out the 'temperamental' slide and created a mini version. The issue is still there ie the score is correct, upon review it states incorrect when it is correct. Many thanks for your help!

Hi Dave!

I noticed one thing in your file that may be causing this issue. When I looked the properties for the quiz slide, I noticed that the slide is set to reset itself. Now, even though the answer is showing up in the field correctly, the review thinks it's back on the original slide (before the leaner actually answered). This is why the incorrect feedback is showing when the answer is correct and the other way around.

To fix this, click on the cogwheel icon in the "Slide Layers" panel for the main layer. Then, select "Resume saved state":

I'm also attaching a modified version of your file, just in case you want to test it out.

Let me know if you have any questions

Thanks!

Christine

Hi!

I know this is an old thread, but I'm having this same issue with numeric slides not advancing  when submit is clicked.. I've double checked all of my submit triggers are still intact, so I'm scratching my head.  My feedback is selected as none as the client doesn't want to give feedback. it seems that could be a problem?
