For the life of me I can't figure out why the output of my my slides (created in Storyline 360) includes a big grey space below the slides with a scroll bar on the side. It's like the space is big enough to allow for scrollable content, but my slides only take up the top half of the space. Has anyone else come across this issue? Could it have something to do with my slide size?
As Alyssa mentioned on the thread you referenced, we are aware and this conversation is attached as well and we will be sure to update you as soon as we can.
Were you able to test in other browsers or just Edge?
We are allowed IE11/Edge only in our company. I see the same behavior in IE11. I could test this in firefox too and it has the same behavior plus an extra scrollbar in the Storyline slide element with modern player. Classic player works everywhere.
Thanks, Susi for confirming that. I see that we do have it reported to our team for Firefox and IE11 and if you're unable to use the Classic player or Edge, I did see a community workaround here that you may want to try. It's not something I can help with - but hopefully, the community experts can weigh in if you need anything.
Has there been an update on this issue? I'm experiencing the same when using Internet Explorer. Once I start scrolling in Rise I get a dark box under any of my Storyline content using the Modern player.
Sorry to hear you ran into this. This is a priority for us, and we'll let you know as soon as we get it sorted out. Thanks for letting us know this bug is affecting you, and I apologize for the headaches!
Hey everybody. I'm excited to let you know that we just released update 23 for Storyline 360! It includes new features and fixes - check them all out here.
We fixed some modern player issues, including blank space below slides that resulted in unnecessary scroll bars and sometimes dark rectangles at the bottom of content.
Here’s how you can update Storyline 360 to take advantage of everything the latest release has to offer. Let me know how you make out!
Hey everyone. I'm experiencing the same issue with an embedded Storyline block in Rise and wanted to see if there was any further info on this.
Firefox and Edge are getting the grey block at the bottom as well as the scroller. I've published the Storyline block to 360 after the 1/22 update and published the full Rise course after this date as well. The course is hosted on our LMS. No problems in Chrome or Safari (both PC and Mobile devices tested).
Thinking maybe the fix wasn't applied the embedded block code/Storyline 360 output?
Hi Ryan. Thanks for those details. The original fix did apply to Storyline blocks in Rise, but we are seeing some residual bugginess in Firefox and Edge with Storyline projects that have a larger, custom slide size. Does that match what you're seeing? What is your story size?
We are actively looking at this behavior, and I'll let you know when we've released a fix!
Thanks for reaching out. That checks out. I have a much smaller (one slide) Storyline block that appears later in the Rise course that does not have the same issue.
The buggy Storyline file is 126 MB. The published zip file (saved for LMS) is 37.2 MB.
For the project that is exhibiting the issue, what are the slide dimensions? Sorry - I should have clarified what I meant by story size! We are still seeing the issue with Storyline projects that have larger, custom slide dimensions.
I had it quite a bit higher because I was trying to preserve original video quality from some 3D vid files, but that was messing with some mobile browsers, so I reduced to that size above, and all issues for mobile ceased. So one problem solved then. :)
Is there an exact dimension figure at which the bug allows you to max out?
No worries. 🙂We don't have a max dimension at this point. I'll let you know if we've worked that limit out. It is in front of our engineers, though, so I'll let you know when the fix is in place!
While we continue to investigate this bug, we're happy to test your project to see what custom approaches we can offer. If you're able to share the .story file, please use this private upload link. We'll let you know what we find and will delete the file after.

I have the same issue. :( Even with the classic player as I just tested right now.

Oh yeah - lol.
Dimensions are 1080 by 536.

Hi,
Any updates with the scrollbar issue.
My Storyline 360 is updated, still the bug seems to be unresolved.
Welcome, Joel. Sorry to hear you're also at this roadblock!
No news on the scrollbar issue Crystal mentioned yet, but I promise we'll share all updates here once we have them. You're in the right place, and here's an inside look at how we tackle bugs!

Hey, folks. Hot off the press: Update 26 for Storyline 360 is live! 🎁
We addressed the issue where an unnecessary scroll bar and dark gray rectangle would appear below the published course (when using the modern player). Check out all the other new fixes and features here!
Here's how you can update Storyline 360 to see everything this release has to offer. Let us know what you think!
