We use the sidebar to show the Menu and the Scripts for the slides. We do not, however, want the sidebar to stay visible the entire time. Is there a way to close the sidebar and open it at the user's choosing? We have tried putting the Script in the top right header, but when you view the script, it covers up part of the slide, which we also do not want.
Can a custom player to accommodate this be created with the software developer toolkit? Any info would be appreciated.
I suspect you can use the Storyline SDK to create something like this - but you could also look at disabling the player elements on a slide by slide basis within the slide properties - and if you haven't included a logo in your player sidebar as well, the slide itself should recenter within the player and no longer see the menu/notes/glossary/resources or other sidebar elements.
Thank you... We would like to have the option for the user to see the Sidebar on each slide... but we also want them to have the option to close the sidebar if they don't need it.. I know this option was available in Presenter.
Thanks for the clarification - that isn't an option within Storyline, so the user won't be able to toggle back and forth between views. The Storyline SDK (for Storyline 1) is here if you'd like to investigate that further. The Storyline SDK for Version 2, is coming soon!
Has this feature been added to Storyline 2? I am working with a client that would like to provide the script as a option for the user to choose. Thanks in advance for your help!
The course author could specify via slide properties as they are building the course or you could choose to not have a sidebar, but move to the topbar left or right via player features - which does give the user control.
Customizing the actual sidebar like this, is not an option.
You are welcome to share your thoughts with our product development team here.
I provide the option for the script as a downloadable .pdf, via a button with a jump to file trigger. It is packaged with your project when you publish.
Looks like you are getting some other assistance here as well, but I wanted to pop in and let you know that responding via e-mail attaches your signature to the forums. You are welcome to pop in and edit if needed.
It would be really cool for the user to have that ability to toggle the sidebar on and off. Courses look so much cleaner and fresh without the sidebar but so many clients want it (for branding reasons) that it would be amazing to have the ability to turn it on and off.
Hi Ashley! That certainly makes sense and the branding reason is certainly a good point. Please be sure to share that with our team here as a feature request.
Hi all. Is there deffinitly a way to do this with Storyline 360? it would be grate to have a beahave for the sidebar on a PC similar/equal to the behave it has on smart devices.
Our team is working on a modern player for Storyline 360, which will give you the option to have the same player design on both desktop and mobile devices. You can stay tuned over here for updates on our newest and upcoming features!
Hi Alyssa, thats great to know! Is it already somewhere in the road map?
We are evaluating to invest in Articulate 360, but there are some other things we need to understand to decide. Is there a possibility to have, let's say, a couple of our chat with you of some expert fo yours to clarify some other doubts/questions we have prior to take our decision?
Our team is working on the modern player feature right now, and the timing has been pushed back a bit based on some initial feedback and additional work needed. We'll post here as soon as it's ready - so stay tuned. :)
I'd be glad to connect you with our experts to answer your questions! I'll create a case for you, and someone from the team will reach out shortly.
