Storyline player menu will not pull down

Oct 08, 2015

Hello All,

This is my first post in the community.  I have read many posts before which were helpful.

The menu in the player will not pull down when clicked.  Instead it shows two arrows, one up, one down, (see image attached).  You can arrow up and down to show part of a word but the window is only as big as the word menu.

What I was expecting was the pull down menu option as displayed in the player editor (see image attached).

I have the menu set to free not restricted (see image attached).  I have tried changing other player setting but nothing is fixing the problem with the menu not pulling down.

If anyone can shed some light on why I would be very grateful.

Thank you for your time and assistance.

Regards.

Rod.

Hi Wendy,

It works o.k. when previewing it, but the published version acts like mentioned above, but only when viewed in Citirx.  When I run the html5 file not in Citirx it works fine.  Problem is, our students will view the presentation from the Moodle LMS in Citirx, so that's the environment I need to get it to work in.

Thanks for taking an interest. I hope you can help.

Hi Again Wendy,

I should mention, I have built other Storyline presentations that run from the LMS Moodle in Citirx, and they work fine.  The player Menu pulls down as expected.  I have checked all of the player and menu settings and they seem to be the same.  I can't figure out why this particular presentation has this problem.

Thanks again.

Rod.

Hi Rod

have you tried creating a new project file and importing your current one in...might have a glitch somewhere that gets ironed out.

also just as a test, move the menu to the right hand side to see if it will dropdown from there

are you using the latest update for the version of SL you have - SL1 update 10, SL2 update 7?

are you working locally and not from a network or usb drive?

If you want to upload the story file happy to have a look for you

Hello Wendy and Leslie,

Sorry about the tardiness of this reply.  I was away from the office for over a week.

Wendy's suggestion of recreating the slides again led to the solution.  I recreated the presentation by copying across the slides, republished to our file structure on the Moodle server, then re-linked the button which displays the presentation.  While re-linking, I noticed the url call had been calling the sotry_html5.html instead of story.html.  The web server has been set up to run the html5 file when story.html is called.  I don;t know what the differnce is between calling the html5 file directly and calling the story.html file and letting the internet server do the exchange, but in this case it fixed the problem.

Thank you for your time and assistance.  It was integral to getting the job done.  Go the community.

Regards.  Rod.
