Storyline projects published in HTML5 as the default are playing in Flash

Jul 14, 2017

Hi...we recently went through all of our tutorials and published them in SL 360, using HTML5 as the default and Flash as the fallback. They were all working perfectly, but suddenly they are all trying to play in Flash, which doesn't work in Firefox most of the time. Any ideas on why this is happening? The devices most definitely support HTML5, so it should be defaulting there.

Little more info on this. We published 15 tutorials with 360 using HTML5 as the default and Flash as the fallback. Today, if I click each one to play it, some load the HTML5 version, and some load the FLash version in the same browser/same computer, although they were all published the same! Why would this be? I've tried using Chrome and Firefox, the same thing happens with the same tutorials. One plays HTML5 and the other plays Flash. The flash version will not play on most browsers, so this is really a problem.

Also, this issue occurs in a SCORM package uploaded to BlackBoard as well.

Hi Deirdre,

I definitely wouldn't expect that to happen, so I'm really glad you reached out! You mentioned this happens when you test your files in Blackboard, so let's try and narrow this down:

  • Are you uploading the entire zipped package to Blackboard?
  • Have you tried testing in another LMS like SCORM Cloud?
  • Have you also tried publishing to Web and testing the zipped output in Tempshare?
