Storyline Published files tracking on iPad

May 16, 2013

A couple of months ago we started having issues with AICC courses tracking completion when using an iPad.  We publish html but do not check the player.  Our LMS has bought Storyline to help us troubleshoot some of our issues, including the completion.  They are telling us we need the mobile player to run the files on the iPad.  I know that is not the case.  I understand there are potentially limits to course functionality in html, but that is all.

I searched in the forum for a response that is clear and to the point but could not find out specifically related to this situation.  Could you reply and/or provide any links to your information to steer them in the right direction?

Thank you for your help!

Hi Caryn,

If you published for SCORM or AICC, your LMS will not be able to track or report Articulate Mobile Player content. If you need to track the results of your LMS courses, it's recommended that you do not include the Articulate Mobile Player option when publishing. Or, encourage your LMS provider to support Tin Can API. (Our white paper on Tin Can API implementation provides helpful information for your LMS provider.)

HTML5 content will be tracked and reported in your LMS. If you published for SCORM or AICC, users will be able to switch between the Flash version of your content and the HTML5 version without losing their progress or results in the LMS. If you published for Tin Can API, users will be able to switch between all output formats (Flash, HTML5, and Articulate Mobile Player) without losing their progress or results.

It might be helpful to share this information with your LMS (especially the information on Tin Can).

Can you share which LMS you're using, as well? Maybe we can get some feedback from other community members that are using the same LMS and have experience with them.

Thanks!
