Storyline Question Names

Feb 01, 2019

Hello, I have imported a Storyline object into my LMS (Absorb). User scores and attempts are all reporting correctly however when I run an 'Answers' report on the LMS it lists the name of each question as Scene1_Slide1_TrueFalse_0_0 etc. Is there a setting in Storyline to change these question names? Have Storyline submit the question text instead?

I've also reached out to the LMS support team for help on their end.

Hi there, Phil.  The ID string is part of the quiz data that Storyline sends your LMS.  When you publish for SCORM 1.2, for example, your reporting will probably look similar to this image, with not much else to identify the question:

You can get a bit more information from SCORM 2004 output, including question text:

The question text comes from the Form View question text field, which fills the "title" box in your question slide's layout.  If your question layout includes a title box and you can use SCORM 2004 output, try placing identifying information, like a question title, in that field.

Let me know if that helps!

I've been looking into this too, and it seems there's no way to get the SCORM 1.2 output to report the question name/slide title?

I found 1.2 does the better job tracking questions that permit multiple attempts?  Is there further information to the link about that is recommended the  best place for someone to get started in learning what's to know about SCORM 1.2 v 2004 v xAPI (Tin Can) ?

Thanks.

Hey Drew!

If you're interested in learning more about LMS standards, this article is a great place to start. Specifically, check out the section titled, "Does it matter which LMS standard I choose?"

SCORM 2004 or Tin Can API is best for sending question text to your LMS, and those standards should also track questions that permit multiple attempts.
