Storyline quiz randomness

Apr 23, 2015

I've embarked on what has turned out to be a nightmare Storyline module! Each time I try to get the quiz to work, a new element of randomness creeps in.

In my latest attempt, the 'next' and 'previous' boxes appear in the player even though I've deselected them in the slide properties box.

I actually wanted the submit button to appear and indicated thus by selecting the 'submit' box in the slide properties box, but it doesn't appear.

What's going on? Can anyone help?

Hi, Katherine --

I agree with Wendy; please make sure you are working locally as described here, and you may want to try importing the file into a new file. If you are still having issues, you might want to try to repair Storyline. And could you also confirm when and where you are seeing the 'next' and 'previous' boxes (as they'll appear as part of review regardless). I'd also like to invite you to share your file so that we may take a look at the issue.

Thanks, Wendy and Christie. I have resaved the file locally and am having the same problem. I also pulled all the slides into a new file but this stopped the quiz reporting correctly.

Re the next and previous buttons, I've set the quiz up so that learners must return to the questions they got wrong and redo them. In other words, they're not reviewing the quiz.

I will look into the repair option but have also uploaded the file in case anyone can see what's going wrong. Thanks again for your help.

Hi Christie

Many thanks for looking at this for me.

The problem I'm having is that I've set the quiz up so that if you get more than one answer wrong you have to do it again. You're sent to the start of the quiz to have another go. It's at this point that the submit button is replaced by the next and forward buttons - bizarre. I've attached a screengrab from the Tempshare output.

I'm really prefer not to change the quiz format because of this issue. Are there any other options?
