Storyline Screen Capture

Apr 23, 2014

I've been on a power learning curve for Storyline Screen Capture for a software simulation course.  I am still in the trial mode, but really don't want to switch to Captivate because I am really versed in Articulate 13 - so this just adds to the whole arsenal of tools.

Anyway, I've had some trouble getting things to work properly so am curious if others out there have any insight on the following issues I've encountered...today.

The screen is not capturing hover mode (i.e. - on hover a drop down appears) - which is a large part of the application I'm simulating.  Are there any tricks to this - or is this something Storyline doesn't do.

I have told my Player Trigger multiple times to advance when Time Line Ends as opposed to when user clicks NEXT but it doesn't take.  Is that a problem with Screen Capture mode?

I'm assuming that deleting Mouse Cursor and Sounds are just CUT as opposed to DELETE.  Not a big deal, but it seems odd that it is CUT - and may cause cache issues.

How do I remove the CLICK from Mouse Cursor?

Would appreciate any insight - including if anyone has knowledge of how Storyline stacks up to Captivate.

Thank you!

To be fair, I think Captivate is a bit better at this - especially capturing hover scenarios such as yours -. I also like the fact that you can modify the way the mouse cursor moves, even after you finished the capture.

However you could quickly grab a 2nd screenshot with your dropdown in place and use triggers to make it work.

Hi Susan and welcome to the community

I have told my Player Trigger multiple times to advance when Time Line Ends as opposed to when user clicks NEXT but it doesn't take.  Is that a problem with Screen Capture mode?  Which object/layer are you referring to in your trigger?  It's easy to mistakenly select the wrong object/layer and wonder why it's not working.

How do I remove the CLICK from Mouse Cursor?  Click on the mouse > click Format > select your mouse behaviour from the options.
