Storyline Shutting Down/Force Quit

May 31, 2013

I am working in Storyline and I am simply adding call outs to a screen cast recording within a slide. I am on slide 1 of 8 and I can't finish the first one because it continually shuts down on me. It begins with freezing up then an error message about debugging the JIT. The first few times I went with it remembering to save frequently. Now I am just not getting it done and deadline is today. Has anyone else experienced this issue?

Welcome to the community, Tiffany!

First, can you confirm you're working with a local project file, please?

  • Work on your local drive (your C: drive). Working on a network drive or a USB drive can cause erratic behavior, including file corruption, loss of audio, and other unexpected behavior.
  • You should also make sure the directory path to your project files and your published output is less than 260 characters (for example C:\Articulate).
  • Avoid using special characters, accents or symbols in your file names (this includes spaces and underscores).

Additional information regarding "Naming Files, Paths, and Namespaces" in Windows operating systems can be found in the following Microsoft article.

If you're working locally, you may want to try importing the original course into a new Storyline file. If you need information on how to import from an existing project, please check out the following tutorial:

Importing from Another Storyline Project

If you don't see any improvement, and you still see that error, please try to share the exact error message with me.

Thanks and welcome again!
