Storyline slide buttons

Apr 26, 2017

Hi there

Can anyone suggest a resolution for this please? I have created a course and it's been uploaded. However, when I have tested the course - in this case deliberately failing and returning back to the question through the feedback layer I can see the Prev/Next buttons even though I have un-ticked this option via the cog on the Correct/Incorrect layers.

Can anyone shed any light on this for me?

Thanks

Liz

Thanks for coming back to me.

We are using our own skin and navigation in our courses. I have checked and can confirm that the Prev/Next options are un-ticked in the Slide Properties. The navigation seems to appear randomly if you return back to the question from the feedback layer using a trigger on the button on the default feedback box. We are using the feedback by choice option on the question.

Any assistance would be gratefully accepted.

Hi Liz

Can you share your .story file - might be easier for someone to help if they can work with your setup...I suspect it is because you are returning to a question after having clicked submit that SL thinks you are in 'review' mode and showing the buttons. As Brian suggested you should be able to use triggers to hide them.

Hi Liz

it's not just 7.2 - I tested 7.2 and the quiz slide below and both are showing the Prev/Next when you return to that screen if you have answered the question.

I did as Brian suggested - checked the Prev/Next on the slide and added the following triggers and the buttons don't show if the user clicks the custom prev arrow

This is the slide after answering 3 attempts - submitting the interaction - going to the result slide then coming back to this slide.

Hi Liz,

When I tested your file, I noticed the Prev/Next buttons appeared on all revisited question slides. Storyline automatically adds Prev/Next buttons because it doesn't know that you inserted your own custom navigation buttons. It's recognizing that the learner needs some way to navigate away from that slide.

It looks like Wendy has pointed you in the right direction for a workaround. Good luck on the rest of your project!
