Storyline stops working when I try to add a new slide

I'm using Update 5 and Storyline freezes when I try to add a new slide.  I've tried to add new slides to brand new modules and to existing modules with the same freezing effect.

Any suggestions?

Hi Debra,

First, can you confirm that you're working with local project files? Working on a network or USB drive could cause erratic or unusual behavior.  

If Storyline continues to behave oddly, please follow the troubleshooting steps in this article to fix unexpected or erratic behavior in Articulate Storyline. 

Please let us know how things are working after following the repair steps.

Hi Ashley,

Yes, I am working with local project files. 

I've completed the troubleshooting steps--including the slCleanup.bat and uninstalling and reinstalling Flash.

It is taking an incredible amount of time for the templates to load, but I am finally able to see them and select a new slide.

Any ideas you have for speeding up the loading process are greatly appreciated.

Hi Debra, 

Are you referring to the templates on the start screen? Those will load when connected to the internet and you open storyline. If they're taking a while to load, or not loading at all it could be that: 

  • If you're behind a proxy server, click the round Articulate button in the upper left corner, and click Storyline Options. Then add your proxy server settings where indicated.
  • If your firewall is blocking access to the Storyline start page, ask your IT staff for assistance.
