Storyline Template Question

Mar 28, 2013

Hello Heros,

Our production team has a question for you.

When importing the PPT slides (attached) into the Storyline Template (attached) they can't get anything to duplicate beyond slide one (example attached)

Can you tell us how to do this.  Thanks!

Hi John,

I apologize, but I'm a little confused on this one. I took a look at the PowerPoint file that has four slides. When I look at the .STORY file you attached, I see the same slides in the course. When I access the slides in Storyline, it looks like all of the content is there, too.

Maybe I'm missing something Can you share a little more detail of what's happening on your end? Or are you not seeing the slides listed as shown in the image above?

Thanks!

Hi John,

Thanks for the clarification When I look at the template, it looks good. If you right-click on the slides, the layouts are pulling from the template and Master slide. You should be able to select the design from that template and apply it to a slide you've inserted.

One thing I did notice, however, is that the navigational buttons you have in the template seem to only be on the first slide in the file. I don't see those buttons in the Master Slide. This may be why they're not pulling through. If you're wanting these buttons to show through the inserted PowerPoint slides, you'll need to place them on the Master Slide layout you'd like to use for that slide.

If you can give me an example of what you'd like to see for one of the specific slides, I can see if I can get this to work for you.

Thanks again John!

Christine

Good morning John. I hope you had a great weekend!

You'll need to place those navigational buttons and the "Pause" layer on the Master slides, then save that template. When you go to create a new Storyline file, use the option "From project template". Once you have the template selected and the new project file, you'll be able to insert the PowerPoint files.

Now, since the PowerPoint files already have Masters selected, you'll need to right-click on the slides and select the Master slides with your new navigational buttons.

One thing to keep in mind here, though; I noticed you have the "Next" button set to show up at a certain point in the timeline. This may not work entirely with the template and Master slides. This is because there really isn't a timeline on the Master. If you want these to appear at a specific point on the timeline, you may be better off actually placing that button on the slides. If you're going to be inserting content on to the slide, rather than importing slides, you could always duplicate the slide, apply the template from the Master and then add your other content.

I'm attaching an example version of the template, with the navigational buttons and pause layer on the Master.

I hope this helps!

Christine
