I've actually been having issues of storyline locking up and/or crashing since I upgraded to 5. These are siginificant in that the only way to resolve the lock-up is to use Windows Task Manager to force Storyline to shut down. I'm running WIn 7 64bit with 8G RAM , and all my other programs (including Cpativate 7, Sony Vegas 12, Adobe CS6) are operating fine.
You won't be able to have update 4 and 5 on the same computer together - although you could have one of them on a virtual machine. I have that set up and have placed update 4 on my virtual machine.
Trav,
I tried this on my own files, and the formatting and text remained between layers. I even was able to copy it onto a new slide's layer and the formatting remained.

Hi Philip,
I've been using update 5 since it was released without any issues
Philip, you don't need to be paranoid about articulate updates. It's not Windows or Adobe (ha ha).
If you have had issues in the past, perhaps a few more specifics could help people with their responses.
Hi Phillip,
You can also see the documentation of which issues we're fixed in update 5 here.

Hi Frank,
Have you tried to repair Storyline yet? There may be something that occurred during the install of your update.
Thanks for the replies.
Is it possible to have both versions 4 and 5 installed on the same computer?
Has anyone tried it with success?
I have encountered a major issue for myself where you copy text boxes between layers and font style is not retained is returned to Articulate.
Of course the vast improvements in HTML5 publishing more than compensate for this.

Ashley, thanks for that tip.
Trav, I am glad to hear about html 5 improvements. I was searching for that, thanks.
