Storyline variable text changes size, font, and left margin.

Jun 03, 2021

I am building 2 interactions to "build" a message out of text variables.
In both, I have issues with the text size and sometimes font changing, as well as the left margin. This is a program on writing and formatting emails, so it is more than just inconvenient.

  • The text fields are set NOT to resize.

I submitted as a bug months ago and there is no resolution.
I'm seeing articles on this going back several years.
Is there any resolution possible at this time?

Hi Alexander,

Thanks for the follow-up. I found your case and the bug mentioned where:

Text spacing is changing or missing when a reference variable is included in a text box.

I'm sorry this issue is still open, but as my teammate Darwin mentioned in your case, we're currently looking into this and will be sure to update you when there's any news to share on a fix.

A current workaround shared is to add the variable reference in a separate textbox. I understand this may not work in every scenario, but I wanted to bring it up for others in the community following along.

Hello Alexander,

Great news!  We just released another update for Articulate 360 and included a few important fixes you'll see in the release notes.

The item you'll be interested in is:

Fixed: Combining text and variables references in the same object could cause spacing or alignment issues in the published output.

Just launch the Articulate 360 desktop app on your computer and click the Update button for Storyline 360. Details here.
