Storyline360 Transcript and Menu issues on iPad and iPad Mini

We are currently building a number of courses in Storyline360 and publishing the files as Scorm 2004. We are experiencing a number of issues when viewing the course in landscape on the iPad and iPad mini. 

1) The full menu sometimes cannot be accessed and/or you can not scroll to view the whole thing. Reported from our testing: having issues scrolling and tapping in the menu on iPad. I will scroll and select but the screen jumps up and actually selects an earlier slide.

2) The transcript either gets cut off and/or you cannot scroll to view all of the content. Additional details from our testing: Still seeing a couple issues with the Transcript. Sometimes the text is small and cut off in a box in the top left, other times it is larger and fits the screen. Noticed that this often gets cut off at the bottom or I can't scroll to the bottom. Sometimes the issue corrects when I tap the Menu and then back to the Transcript tab.

We are testing the courses in Safari in Scorm and the client's LMS, which has the same results. 

I am attaching some examples. I would like to get these issues fixed and/or find out if there is a work around in order to get final deliveries completed by early November.

Thanks for the detailed write-up and the screenshots, Amy. I'd like to do a bit of testing, but can you first help me with these questions?

  • Are you on the latest update of Storyline 360? To check, click the Help tab, then click About Storyline. You should see 3.9.13567.0 in the bottom-right corner. 

  • Does the same thing happen when you test the course in another LMS environment like SCORM Cloud?

Hi Amy, thanks for confirming. I was able to replicate this behavior in a new file. We've documented it and are working with the team on it.

I found that for the Menu issue:  If you scroll down and try to choose a slide, on the first attempt, the menu will jump and then go to the wrong slide.  On the second attempt, it will bring you to the slide you choose.

For the Notes: Upon first opening the notes, you can't scroll to the end. When toggling to the Menu and then back to Notes, you can then scroll through the notes.

I realize these aren't really workarounds that you can give to learners, but I wanted to let you know what I discovered in testing. I'll keep you updated in this discussion on any potential fixes.

Hi Ashley,

I just received a report of this happening in one of our courses.  We are using the latest release, and see the same behavior where navigating back to the notes pane will allow us to scroll. I’m attaching a screen recording to show it in action. 

The behavior appears to be sporadic—not happening on every slide.

I just wanted to provide a quick update, as well:  I can no longer reproduce the Menu issue that I described above:

I'm on update 3.10.13923.0 with Storyline 360.  If you are still seeing that behavior after updating, please let us know.  Notes not scrolling on the initial attempt is still an issue that we're tracking, as Ashley confirmed!

I am on version 1.10.13923.0 and am having the same Menu issue although I cannot ever get it to go the slide I choose. It pops back up to the top every time or goes to a slide I did not choose.

Have you tested publishing it with this latest update and checking that you're viewing the newest copy by clearing your browser cache or accessing in a private browsing window?

Great news! We just released another update for Articulate 360, and it includes a fix for the issue where notes wouldn't always scroll and/or were sometimes cut off in HTML5 output on mobile devices.

Simply launch the Articulate 360 desktop app on your computer and click the Update button for each application. Details here.
