Strange Behaviour Using Freeform Drag and Drop in Chrome

Jan 19, 2018

Hi

I am having an issue with the drag and drop results slide (Storyline 2 Update 12: 1705.520) when displaying in the latest version of Chrome in Windows 10. There is no issue when displaying the same in Edge (note - Chrome is my browser of choice but testing in Edge also).

I have a freeform drag and drop interaction with 4 drop areas - this is all working fine, users can interact perfectly. However, the issue is when displaying the results slide to the user so they can see their answer and then compare it to the correct answer.

In Chrome the results slide, when you select the "Review Results" option only shows the first answer  and the rest are blank, i.e. no matter where you drop the answers (top left, top right, bottom left, bottom right) it only displays the first answer - regardless of where you place it - the rest are all blank.

Any ideas why the results slide doesn't work in Chrome?

Hi Mitchell,

Thanks for allowing me to test your file! I found a bug in the HTML5 output, which explains why you're seeing the problem in some browsers and not others. If Flash is turned off, the browser will default to the HTML5 content.

In your Drag and Drop Options, you selected, "Reveal drag items one at a time". This is the setting that is causing the issue.

To work around it, you can:

  • View the Flash output.

    --OR--
  • De-select the "Reveal drag items one at a time" option, and add a solid background to the drag items so they can still be legible while stacked on top of each other.

I really appreciate you bringing this to our attention, and I'm really sorry if this has been causing you headaches. I'll be sure we get this bug reported to our team!
