Strange Screen Capture with Dual Monitors
Feb 16, 2017
Hello,
I have been facing a strange problem while recording my screen using Storyline 2. Here are the details.
1. I use three monitors. The primary is my laptop, which is docked, plus 2 big monitors on which I can extend and drag whatever I want to.
2. I wanted to record a screencast on using Audacity. So I opened audacity on one of my big monitors, dragged, Storyline's recording options to to monitor and set it up at 1280 x 720.
3. However, the actual recording looks odd. It has recorded everything right from when I was setting the dimensions.
4. Additionally, it has taken half of my other screen, which I find strange.
Can someone please look at the file and help me understand what I am doing wrong?
Thanks!
Richa

Hi Richa,
Are you using Windows to grab your screenshots?
The PrtScreen button or the Ctrl-PrtScreen combination will attempt to capture all of your current screens.
The Alt-PrtScreen combination will only capture your application window.
This may vary according to your windows version and registry settings, so test the results on your system.
Thanks Dave. That's interesting. Let me try that and let you know if that works.
Cheers!

Okay, so when I click just PrtScreen, it's basically capturing both my monitors. What do you recommend the settings need to be for this to NOT happen? And for Storyline to only record the area I set up?
Cheers!

@Dave: Just want to clarify that I am seeing problems while using the Record Screen option. Screenshots seem to be working okay.
Your presentation look like you were grabbing screen captures of Audacity. Is this not what you are doing? What software are you using to capture or record your screen?
If you are doing screen captures, Alt-PrintScreen should grab just the selected application.
I was using Storyline 2 to create a video on using Audacity. It was basically a video saved in Storyline's Try Mode, which separates the video out into individual slides.
Cheers!

I found the problem. I use my laptop plus 2 external monitors. The laptop had a DPI of 125% while the others a 100%. I just had to ensure that all three displays were at a 100%, restart my system and voila!! :)
Hi Richa,
I'm glad you sorted it out.
