Strange Theme Behavior - Feedback Master Madness
Mar 12, 2016
Had a strange experience with Storyline themes. First time I've used these for a large project but this definitely doesn't seem normal. Here's what happened:
- Created 3 color themes in one project.
- Created one set of feedback master customizations.
- Switched between the color themes to adjust the colors.
- After an hour of working, Storyline started operating very poorly. It was taking 10 to 15 minutes to save the file that wasn't very big (so I thought.)
The theme switching had somehow generated 473 different feedback master sets. Working to delete those now but... wow. Anyone seen this before?

Doesn't look like the theme is applying to feedback masters. Disappointing. Gonna need to find another way.
Hi Steve,
Thanks for reaching out here - and creating that many different feedback master sets sounds a bit excessive and likely that something else happened (unless you were creating that many themes?!). Did you already reach out to the Support engineers - and if not, do you still have the problematic file to share with us by uploading here?
Hi Ashley -
I was able to replicate the duplication problem in a fresh file. Will do a screen recording and pitch that up. It's odd behavior. Each time a new design is assigned, the feedback masters multiply.
So there are two problems. The first is that designs aren't applying to feedback masters for some reason. The second is that each time a design / theme is applied, the feedback masters multiply like rabbits.
This is very true. Even when you switch from one existing theme to another, it adds a Feedback Master set. Every single time.
Thanks Steve for going through those steps - and let me know once you've sent it along to our Support engineers so that I can follow along in your case and update the thread.
