Submit Interactions

Sep 30, 2020

Since the Sept update for Storyline 360 I made some content changes to a course but did not change anything else.  Since the update it does not work for me anymore and it relates to the submit interactions.

The way it had worked was the student would complete a number of slides that include text and numerical entries.  Once they were complete I had a number of short answer slides that would then set the Short Answer variable to one of the previous data points received and would then Submit the interaction. (I did it this way to make sure all of the interactions would be carried over to the interactions report in Moodle)

These short answer slides were assigned to the appropriate Results slide (which also did a submission).

Worked great up until the change....

Any thoughts on how to fix this?

Hello Brad and welcome to E-Learning Heroes 😊

Thanks for reaching out and sharing that you're running into different behavior since the latest update.

We did release a feature for expanded quiz tracking, so this may be what you are experiencing.

With your permission, I'd like to take a look at your project file to investigate what's happening. You can share it publicly here, or send it to me privately by uploading it here. I'll delete it when I'm done troubleshooting.

Hello Brad!

Thank you for attaching the file! In the file, it looks like Scene 7 has a text entry field on each slide but there aren't navigation buttons. Do you mind sharing what the reason is for adding those slides?

Here's what I am seeing on my end.

Lastly, do you mind sharing either a Review link or web link showing what the course looked like before updating?

Hi Lauren:

These slides were done that way in order to successfully transfer the required information from the story to our LMS. Initially it would not send the information if it wasn't an actual question and so after looking through a number of websites including yours this was the most appropriate way to do it. The slide is meant to enter, immediately upon entering the slide it assigns a variable (from the information gathered) as the text entry, submits the interaction and then move to the next slide with out the user actually seeing it. It has been working great with out fail until the last update.

I have attached a video for you

Hello Brad!

Thank you for attaching the screen recording! After looking at the project, I saw each of the slides in Scene 7 was set to advance by the user. I'm assuming these slides were set to advance automatically previously. I changed this setting and saw what you were mentioning in your screen recording. If you want the user to see less of the slides, then you can shorten the timeline on each slide.

Here's a video of my testing. I've also attached the updated project to this reply.
