Submit short Essay

Part of our training process is for the new employees to take an online course, followed by a 1-on-1 call with a trainer.  To be able to do this in our LMS I need some way to sign off on the 1-on-1 call.  The way I have been doing that so far is to have the user submit a blank essay question that I could mark as complete after the 1-on-1 call which finishes the course and opens up the next course. 

Does anyone have any experience with how grading of essay questions in an Articulate course work with SmarterU and how it can be set up to grade in SmarterU?
