Submit the SCORM data to the LMS without having to exit the course

Oct 07, 2014

I want a learner to be able to take a final test three time and that for each attempt the LMS be updated with the attempt info (score, time, etc.) without exiting the course.

I’m thinking there’s got to be a way to submit the SCORM data without having to exit the course, Any ideas?

Thank You

Hi Edgar,

Storyline communicates course completion to a learning management system (LMS) as soon as the learner meets the completion requirement—i.e., either when they reach the designated quiz result slide or when they've viewed the required number of slides. You may want to check in with your LMS team regarding how the different attempts will be tracked and what requirements you may need to set up within your publish settings to have this occur. I also wanted to point out this article on troubleshooting common LMS issues.

You can also set up Storyline to limit the total number of quiz attempts allowed as described here.

Hi Ashley,

Thank You very much for your response. I think it is interesting because it looks like the LMS does not record our data until we close the course. I actually left the course running in the last slide, two slides after the test was completed and result displayed, and the LMS didn’t record the results.  That makes me think there must be a final communication with the LMS other than the results when the course is closed.  Assuming that there is, is there a way to generate and send that communication without closing the course?

Thanks again for your help.
