Does anyone have any experience with publishing Storyline files to Success Factors? We're evaluating Storyline right now, and we want to make sure it will work with the LMS we have (though we may change LMS providers in the future). I have seen a few posts about SCORM not working well with SF and was hoping to get some more info. Are there any disadvantages to publishing with AICC?
My company has had SF for over a year now and we have not experienced any issues with publishing Storyline files to the LMS. The only thing that we have had to be consious of, especially when using the iContent service, is making sure that we are using consistent naming conventions in both Storyline's LMS Reporting and Tracking Options as well as when you set up your course in SF.
Even if those conventions haven't been 100% consistent in both places, we haven't experienced any issues with SCORM 1.2 courses reporting and tracking in the LMS itself. Any issue that we have had with SF is due to network/bandwidth issues with our company's aging network.
If anything, the Storyline files are the ones that perform the best regularly!
I am new to both Storyline and SuccessFactors. We are having trouble getting the LMS to recognize completion of the course after it is closed. I am wondering, do the completion statuses in the LMS have to be an exact match to one of the four completion statuses available in Storyline; i.e. Completed/Failed?
Are you tracking your course completion based on slides visited or a results slide? Additionally, what lms method are you publishing your courses with (AICC, Scorm 1.2, Scorm, 2004, Tin Can API)? Have you tried testing out your completion requirements in SCORM Cloud to see if it's LMS specific or file specific? For other LMS troubleshooting steps, I'd suggest reviewing this article.
Completed/Incomplete and Completed/Failed will only report the completion status, where as Passed/Incomplete or Passed/Failed will report a completion status and a success status if your LMS supports it.
We have SF as our LMS. We are having issues with SF displaying the correct score on the learning plan. Three developers have developed courses. We are tracking by the Results slide. I know my courses work fine in the SCORM Cloud but in SF never is the score correct when you fail the quiz and go back and pass the quiz. This has been an ongoing issue. The LMS team keeps telling us it is the content in Storyline that is causing the issue.
I'm sorry to hear about the difficulty you're having. Did SuccessFactors point you to a particular part of your content or Storyline that they think is the issue? If it works as expected in SCORM Cloud, I'd share those results with them - as SCORM Cloud is an industry standard for testing SCORM Content and if it works as expected there, Storyline is doing what it should.
I don't know of any specific fixes or issues associated with Success Factors, so I hope that someone else in this thread or who comes across it can weigh in and offer advice.
I am refering to our internal LMS team. I think someone has put in a ticket with SF not sure. I have shared the Cloud results but that has not seemed to help my case. We have published in AICC, SCORM 1.2, AND SCORM 2004. Thanks for responding. If we fix this, I will certainly share!
We ended up selecting SuccessFactors as our LMS, and we haven't had any trouble thus far, although we haven't needed to do too much with quizzes yet. What exactly is happening with the score? I haven't had this issue, but I could try to replicate it.
I'm not sure if Alanda is still subscribed to this thread, but you may want to try sending a message using the "contact me" feature on Alanda's profile.
Let me jump back in that we have had several issues with completion status and score reporting for content we are hosting internally. We have not had any trouble with content hosted on the icontent server.
We were experiencing cross-domain issues that were solved by a relatively simple solution:
Unfortunately our issues were not consistent across browsers, so it took us a long time to find this solution. It was one that neither our icontent partner, implementation partners, nor SuccessFactors support were aware of. However, now things seem to be working much better! I just publish the course to AICC and add the "relay.php" file, edit the .au file per the directions, and then update the URL in the content object to direct to /relay.php instead of /story.html.
I'm having issues with my client unable to load the zip folder to Plateau SF too. Do I need to make this change with the cross domains? I'm not sure which part of the URL I edit though. "http://www.servername.com/story/index_lms.html"
This thread is a bit older so you may want to message Rebekah directly as well by using the "contact me" button on her profile and see if she's able to share additional information with you.
I'm not sure if this solution will work for your situation, but it's worth a try! Yes, you have the URL correct. Just make sure that replay.php file is in the top level folder along with the index file.
Hi, Rebekah -- Many thanks for stopping back in with your response and as some time has gone by since the last activity here in the thread, if you'd like to reach out to Penny directly to ensure that she receives your response, you are welcome to use the 'Contact Me' link on her profile page. :)
I'd like to jump in here with a similar (I think) question. Our HR department is trying to get Storyline 2 content to play in our Success Factors LMS - no luck so far. But I notice on the admin screen a place to select "Content Player". Wondering if I need to download or add something here. I have no issues loading Storyline content on another LMS we use - I just select the SCORM .zip file and upload, then launch. Thoughts anyone?
Hi, Robert -- Thanks for reaching out here! May I ask if you are able to get your content to play if you test it in the SCORM Cloud, as that environment is the industry standard for LMS testing? If you do not experience any issues on the SCORM Cloud, we tend to recommend that you reach out to your LMS provider directly. You may also want to check out this article on How to Troubleshoot Your LMS with SCORM Cloud.
Please let us know if that helps, and hopefully others who use the Success Factors LMS will be able to chime in to assist you further. :)
Hi, have only attempted publishing via AICC as that is what the client said was the preferred method as they are using the old plateau version of success factors. Shall I re-publish to SCORM instead and see if that works? The client is still experiencing difficulties getting the content to launch and play. Could there be another cause for this error?
The version of SuccessFactors that you're clients are using may only support AICC, but that's something we'd have to defer to them in regards to. If you're able to use one of the SCORM versions it may be worth testing that out to see how it behaves for you as well. What occurs when the content is launching? Have they tried in another browser perhaps as well to see if that causes a different behavior?
Hi, Penny -- So sorry to hear you are experiencing difficulties while publishing for AICC as that is what your client has designated for use on the version of Success Factors they are utilizing. It appears that others have run into similar issues in the following threads, so you may want to check out the suggestions and information provided so you can better coordinate with your client on their needs. You may also want to take a look at this article on how to test your AICC content in the SCORM Cloud, as well.
Please let us know if you continue to experience issues, and you may also want to reach out to your LMS provider directly for their input on the difficulties you are having.
I urgently need help. I am in the process of selecting the suitable authoring tool for our LMS (SF). I need to launch an important digital course in April. It is crucial that I get the Articulate Storyline to work on SF, before I can get the approval to purchase the software.
We have recently done the initial testing in publishing Articulate Storyline file on Success Factors LMS module, and have encountered the following problems:
But at the same time If I was using content object file name as “http://mct-successfactor.cloudapp.net/content/stage/00714367_NewFile/story.html” , as a user of SF, I am able to launch the eLearning course without any error on my laptop. FYI, please find attached the screen image of the eLearning content files details. However, when I use my mobile phone to access the course, it does not load and it gets stuck with the blank page saying that it is "loading" .
2) Mobile Version: For launching mobile version which index file we need to use in content file path?
3) Is there any way to communicate to LMS that particular course has been completed by user or not? What option is available to indicate course has been completed by the user?
If possible, I would really appreciate it if someone would be willing to have a phone or Skype conversation sometime this week? Please let me know your contact number or Skype ID and the best time to contact you.
