Support of Android for Articulate Storyline project output HTML5

Aug 24, 2015

I am very new articulate storyline, downloaded trial version today. I have project where I am planing to create courses for high school graduates on science and maths topics.

I am planning to include :

  • Quizzes
  • Interactions (Drag and drop kind of)
  • Videos
  • Animations
  • Voice over in explaining concepts

I was searching suitable E learning software and for some reasons chose Captivate. After spending some time on Captivate realized that it has some serious support issue with video and audio content in android app.

Before investing money and time on articulate storyline, I want to know from community is it good idea to use this software to create an App for e- learning with lot of quizzes, interactions and animations.

Your feedback, suggestions are appreciated

Hi Suma,

I'll defer to the community on their experience and expertise, but did want to share that Storyline 2 does support Android devices as detailed here.  You may also want to review this article which compares features across Flash, HTML5 and the Mobile player  in addition to this article on how to publish for mobile devices.

Hello Ashley,

I have some issues loading HTML5 courses on my Lenovo Yoga 2 Tablet running under Android 4.4.2. The Articulate Player loads without a problem but it remains empty, no content is load. I use Chrome as browser. The course runs perfectly on PC and I have also publish my tests courses for the AMP version. I have the latest version for Android installed and it does load the content, but since my LMS requires login and doesn't handles TIN CAN API this is not solution for me. Could you please provide some hints or solutions?

Thank you!

Thank you for your fast reply both but I'm sorry to say that this doesn' t solves the problem, here's a screenshot of the publishing settings I used after reading Phil's answer:

And here's what I get on the Android Tablet:

Which is kind of frustranting since is runs better on my Windows Phone which is not supported by Articulate...

Hi Marianela,

I'm a bit confused by your first post than, as you said you were not seeing it in the Articulate Player, which you mentioned testing in and I think we both assumed you were referring to the mobile player? In your first image I can see that it's the regular player, which means it is the HTML5 output - but I can't tell what browser you're viewing it in? If you're using Chrome, can you let us know what update/version of Chrome? Also what update of Storyline  have you published it with? The latest update of Storyline fixed an issue with HTML5 content in the latest version of Chrome as detailed here.  So I'd look at either republishing or using the Chrome updater as mentioned.

Hello Leslie, I finally made it, here's what I did, perhaps it will help someone else in the futur:

First of all, my PC is running Windows 10 but it was originally running under Windows 8.1.

1. Disable  AntiVirus and Malware protection.

2. Right-click on the Articulate Storyline 2 executable and select "Solve compatibility issues"

3. After install is completed Enable Antivirus and Malware protection

I'll be trying later to test if the updating solve my hmtl5 issue on Android devices

Cheers
