I have multiple "text entry interactions" where learners can type an essay type answer. In "preview" they can type a line of text and then enter to the next line to continue typing. The problem is that when the course is published, they can only type on a single line, irrespective how big the box is. When you press enter, instead of going down a line to keep typing, storyline jumps to the next interaction. I also have a custom "previous" buttom which is triggered to go back to the previous slide. This also no longer works once a leaners has "entered" within the interaction. Please help, thanks
Sounds like you might've already seen this and tried adjusting the box size, correct?
If you'd like, we'd be happy to take a closer look at it. Please submit a case, including your .story file, using this link so our support team can assist you further.
The challenge is that I am using these courses in Moodle and, I think, in order for Moodle to recognise the students entries, they have to be text interactions and not just data entries. Along with the text interaction I also need a results page? Is this right, or is there a way for the LMS to register the entries if they are only data entry fields? This would be so much simpler.
Ahh, thanks for clarifying, Carol. Right, I believe you're correct regarding capturing results. So because it seems to be working properly in preview, I'm wondering if it might be your LMS that is somehow changing the behavior of the Enter button.
Would you mind testing your course in SCORM Cloud to help us determine if the issue is Articulate-related or if it's on your LMS's side? If it appears in SCORM Cloud as well, we'd be happy to take a closer look at what might be going on. If you can't replicate the issue in SCORM Cloud, it's probably an issue that you'd want to take to your LMS team. The articles here and here may also help clear up common LMS issues.
Just new on this forum. Hi there! When I'm browsing, I saw and read your post. You know what? Whenever I have a problem on an essay I see to it that I visit Admission-service.com to fix my things. I've been their followers ever since.
I have a question similar to this. I want to insert four data entries onto one slide. I do not want them to be a free forum or to be automatically graded. I would like them to be treated as an essay where I have the responses emailed to me. Is it possible to treat multiple data entries on one page like a survey question where the user hits "submit" and their answers come to me?
I'm afraid what you're wanting to do may not be possible without JavaScript or other options that aren't built-in to Storyline.
However, I do have one suggestion that may work for you. What you could do is develop a survey using a third-party site, such as Survey Monkey. Then, insert the page as a web object. Learners will be able to fill in their information without leaving your course and most of these survey sites provide options for email delivery, or online review of submissions.
Just wanted to share this information in case it's something that might work for you!
