Survey reporting in Articulate Storyline

Dec 22, 2016

Hi

I'm building a survey into my eLearning as a final evaluation. I'm flipping between having an external link to a survey tool that has reporting features though because I'm not sure how I would collect the results from our LMS if the survey is created using S2 survey slides.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

I appreciate your feedback.

Hello Anneli!

You can certainly build a survey directly into your Storyline project using Form-Based questions. You'll also want to make sure you add a Results Slide at the end of the survey to send reporting and tracking information to your learning management system, including learners' responses. And in case you're interested, here's some information about what data is sent to LMS from Storyline. Let me know if you have any further questions!

Great question, David!

Storyline will send survey data to the LMS if you've included a results slide, but it sounds like you'd rather have the survey results emailed directly to you.

While that's not a feature included in Storyline, you can enable the Print Button on the results slide. Then, instruct your learners to print their results and email them to a specified address.

Let me know if that alternative will work for you!

HI David,

I ended up using a tool called Select Surveys (SS) and at the very end of the module, request learners to complete a 5 minute survey. It takes them to the survey URL and then I pull the reporting quarterly from SS. I can set it up to have the emails sent to me directly, but as we get over 300 learners at any given time, I haven't done that. I just go in and create a report. I asked around in our different Learning and Development areas, and that seemed to be the preferred method for other developers as well.
