SurveyMonkey and users input

Oct 05, 2020

I've been racking my brain on finding loopholes on how to fix the "Done" button on SurveyMonkey.  The issue is when the user completes the questionnaire and clicks "Done". The user then gets redirected to another page that says "Thank you for taking the Survey." Once they close out of that screen it does not take them back to the course.

Is there anyway I can disable the redirection? It's seems like the "Done" button is what triggers the data to record in SurveyMonkey?

I started off with Google Forms but I wasn't able to style the form the way I wanted to, so I switched over to SurveyMonkey.

Any suggestions/tips would be great. I am simply just trying to record the users lastname, firstname and email add if this helps.

Thank you,

Hi there,

How are you having the survey open? Is it opening in the same "window" as the Storyline project/course screen? If so, is it possible to have it open as a new window when clicked? That way when they click done it leaves them with the course page underneath still? If this doesn't work, have you tried using the web object option in Storyline to have the survey "embed" on the slide itself? That would leave you with any of the player options, next/back buttons, other triggers, etc. so users can move forward after they complete the survey. Finally, you could also look at a "lightbox" of the survey... again using the web object but on a lightboxed slide.

Just some initial ideas since I'm not exactly sure how you're triggering the survey in Storyline so it's hard to diagnose.

Good luck!

Hi Leah,

Yes, I am having the survey open in the same "window" in the SL course. I could have the course open as a new window however, I wanted to stay away from having employees use two different tabs. Some people are not to tech savvy, I wanted to make it as easy as possible. Maybe this could be my last resort.

I have used both web object and "embedding" the survey but for some reason. The survey style looks extremely big on the slide. I have tried resizing the width and height. I am not sure why I am struggling with this. The font is somewhat over sized if that makes sense.

I am not familiar with "lightbox". How does it work?

Thank you for answering my questions.
