First I have to say that I absolutely love Articulate Storyline!
I just started building my first e-course and included it with questions. On the last page I inserted a test results page. On that page I want to swap the NEXT-button to an EXIT-button instead.
I managed to change the trigger to exit insted of trying to go to next page. But I need to change the text on just that last button on the very last page to EXIT as well.
If you have not used the submit button in your course you could switch it for a submit button and then change the text in the labels for submit to exit
The button itself is the built in button that Articulate provides. I have pointed the NEXT-button to an EXIT action. But I want to change the text on that very built in button, just on the last page, to say EXIT instead of NEXT.

You cannot change a single player button, this is the way i would do it, but it is dependent on you not having already used the submit button
Phil, that's a great idea assuming you haven't used the Submit button somewhere else in your course. It seems like a great idea for a feature request: a user-defined button for the player that could be selected on a slide by slide basis through the slide properties. Just add a fourth choice for navigation buttons and then assign the text to it in the Text Labels. I think I'll send that in...
Hi Andy, on the last page of your course, click the Slide Properties icon (it looks like a wheel) to display the slide navigation controls.
Uncheck the Next button and check the Submit button.
Apply the exit trigger to the submit button (just as you did for the Next button). At this point clicking Submit will exit the course but the button still says Submit.
To change the text on the button, click the Player tab and then Text Labels. Locate Submit Button in the list (it is item 84) and then change the Custom Text to EXIT and then click Ok to save the change.
Thank you for helping me out with good instructions!
It did help, but as I change the name of that button it also changes the name of all other submit buttons during the course, which will a bit strange. How can I isolate the change to just that last page submit button?

Would make a great feature, i will do one as well.
Hi Andy, you could try turning off the next button on your final screen and then incorporating the exit into your slide design by using a custom button, image or object.
Thank you, Nancy. This was very helpful and I wanted to share a little bit more information just in case somebody else run into the same problem I had.
I am using Storyline 2. I changed "Submit" (item 94) on Text Labels but it never changed the text on the button. Several tries with no success. I later found out there is also "Submit Button" (Item 98) on the list and changed that to "Exit". It did change the text on the button. Hopefully this saves other people's time.

Hi Andy,
is this exit button an image, a shape or built-in Storyline button?

I simply point the next button to a "thank you" or "congrats, you completed" page with an exit button.
Hi everybody,
And thank you for helping me out!

Much appreciated for all help!

Thank you for the answers! Is there some place where I can see how I can execute that?

Andy you cannot, which was why I added the caveat that it will only work if you have not used the submit button elsewhere.
There is no other way to do this unless you use the SDK.

Hi Phil,
I see, thanks for answering. Hope to see such a feature in the future.
Hi Andy, you could try turning off the next button on your final screen and then incorporating the exit into your slide design by using a custom button, image or object.
Here is an example of one I did a while ago.
Good job, Nancy.
I feel ending screens like this adds a personal touch to any eLearning activity while providing positive indication of an end.
what will a trigger on a button to exit the course do?
Close the browser?
Will that work for all browsers?
Thanks
Hi Marcos!
Yes, the Exit Course trigger will close the course browser or tab. It should work in all supported browsers for the version of Storyline you're using.
Let me know if you're having trouble with an Exit trigger, and I'll lend a hand!

I'm glad that you were able to find the field that you needed, Sean. I appreciate you chiming in to share with others in the community as well 😊
