I'm new to Storyline, but I'm trying to recover some lost projects for my work. The story files were zipped and when I extract them, I can only get SWF or an html5 file. Is there any way to convert these files back to Storyline? Also, I get folders with all of the individual pieces (audio, video, images, etc.), but they're just the files.
It sounds like the .zip files you're looking at are the published output for the courses.
There isn't a way to convert the published output back into an editable file. You would need access to the original .story project file in order to make changes to it in Storyline.
Hi there Weylin! It sounds like you've got a published output folder, and you won't be able to reverse-engineer those files. You'll need the original .story file to open the file and make edits.
Were the original files you lost on the same computer that you're using now? If so, there may still be a working version of your project in your temp files. Here's a quick Peek at how to find them.
Thank you both for clarifying. At least now I won't waste my time with it. Alyssa to your question, my IT department had accidentally wiped one of my co-worker's hard drives. We can't get them and IT can't get them. I'll just rebuild.
Thanks for following up Weylin. If you need any help working through those projects, here's our tutorial hub for all versions of Storyline. It's pretty easy to find the right article for what you need in the User Guides.
