SWF starts playing before actually on stage

Dec 11, 2014

Hello,

I imported a SWF as video on a slide and made it appear after 6 seconds.

The problem is when the SWF appears it's not playing from the start but it's like it was playing in the background for 6 seconds !

I made a quick test and noticed that the "problem" occurs with nested animation in flash (my SWF is only one frame on main timeline, with many animated MovieClips).

If your animation is done on the main timeline, it will start playing when appearing on stage.

Is this a bug ? Any workaround ?

Thanks.

Hello Pierre!

Thanks for sharing your file. I see in this file you have the SWF to start at 3 seconds, and in preview it does come in at three seconds, and starts with the number 1, then counts to 4.

I guess I am misunderstanding what you had posted. Are you seeing different behavior? Is the swf showing up at 3 seconds, but appearing to have already started counting?

I moved each swf into their own slide and adjusted the starting point, but they both seem to work as expected.

Hi Emily,

When you play my SWFs outside SL, they both start at 1 and count up to 4. One has frames on the main timeline while the other plays a clip on the timeline (nested)

Now, in SL, although they both appear at 2.5 seconds, one has already started playing in the background (the nested one), which is not the expected behaviour !

In my real project, I have a SWF animation with nested clips that has already played halfway when it appears on the timeline.

Hope this makes more sense !

Thanks for the update Pierre.

When I view the file you shared, the Nested one does start at 1. I have moved it to several places on the timeline, and it always starts at 1. Do you a different swf file you could share? Or you could always sent this to our support team to see if they may be able to see it playing the the background.
