Sync audio with glowing objects?

Oct 11, 2013

Hello Articulate Community,

I am new to this and I have a question.. I have added audio to a slide - probably too much audio about a flowchart  for chemical safety. I would like to know how I can potentially sync the audio with the objects in the slide, so that they glow when I am talking about each object. I have already created a highlighted state for each object that is just a basic pink "glow" around it.  I guess my question is this: is this animation, do I need to have different layers? What would you recommend?

I am attaching an example here and yes you are hearing my lovely (non-professional) voice.

Thanks for any and all suggestions,

Tatiana

Hi Tatiana...

Typicaly the best way to do this is using States.

Have some shapes OFF SCREEN

Set them to appear on the Timeline when you want things to happen.

Then you set (for example...) a Trigger that says "Change State of Gas Canister to Glow when state of rectangle 1 = normal"

So - things off screen cause things on-screen to happen.

Does that make sense?

Perhaps someone else can post an example, as I am about to go out for dinner

Hello Mike and Bruce,

Thank you so much for your replies- I had to wrap my head around it - but I got it! I can see how the states will change with the objects off screen.  I am hoping I can sync the audio to them as well. Thanks for your help with this. I'll be working on it and will post sometime soon.

Thanks again,

Tatiana
