Syncing screencast with animations

May 12, 2015

I was trying to sync some animatios with a screencast video that I prepared. At some point where the screencast is running (not at the begining or end), I want some buttons to show, but when the slide is running and for some reason I use the video navigation bar, the buttons dont appear in the time of the screencast that I want. For example, if I designed some buttons tu appear in 30 seconds in the timeline after the slide begins (when the screencast is in some point running), if I move the navigation bar of the screencast to 30 seconds quickly, the buttons dont appear till actually 30 seconds are spent. How can I sync the screencast time with animations?

I'm not sure I understand exactly but it sounds like you could use cue points to sync your buttons. Just play through your screenscast and type the letter "c" as you're listening/watching at each point you want a button to appear. This will put a cue point on the timeline. Then just go back and align your button entrances to those cue points.

Hi Gerado,

If you're screencast is inserted as a separate video (not necessarily a screencast done in Storyline) and you've enabled the seekbar/video controls for that, it's no longer synced with the slide timeline so therefore the video and any timed animations will no longer be in sync. If you want to show the seekbar for the video so that users can see how far along they are, you may want to look at placing a transparent shape over it, so that it's not accessible to users - but that they're still able to see how far along in the video they have progressed.

If we're misunderstanding your set up, could you share a bit more information about what is occurring and how you've had it set up.

Thank you for your answers. The thing is that I recorded one screencast of 5 minutes duration, with some animation when the timing is in 3 minutes of the presentation, that is set in the timetable.

When I preview the slide and I use the seekbar of the screencast video to forward it to lets say 2:50 minutes, the when the timing of the video gets the 3 minutes, the animation doesnt show up. It waits till the slide is 3 minutes active to show the animation.

My question is: Can I sync the animation anyway to the timing of the screencast so if I use the seekbar to forward the screencast video, the animations works anyway in the timing that I expect of the video?
