System memory is low

Jun 28, 2013

Hi all,

Another Storyline issue I just began having is with a new file I recently imported slides into is a system memory is low error when I try to open the player.  My working system memory is around 3%-5%.  I've closed all processes via the task manager and I continue to get this error.  The bad thing is that even when I click ok, I cannot open the player editor.  I've created a new file, copied the slides into (there are only 19) and I still get this issue.  Has anyone else experienced this issue and is there a fix to where I can get the player editor to open?  As an aside, my IT has looked at it and I have more than 65% of total memory available, so I should not have this issue.

Thanks!

Nate

Hi there Nate,

I'm sure you've already checked, but you may want to make sure you're working with a local project file:

  • Work on your local drive (your C: drive). Working on a network drive or a USB drive can cause erratic behavior, including file corruption, loss of audio, and other unexpected behavior.
  • You should also make sure the directory path to your project files and your published output is less than 260 characters (for example C:\Articulate).
  • Avoid using special characters, accents or symbols in your file names (this includes spaces and underscores).

Additional information regarding "Naming Files, Paths, and Namespaces" in Windows operating systems can be found in the following Microsoft article.

If you are working locally, please make sure you're using the most recent version of Storyline. To find this information, click on "Help" and "About Articulate Storyline".

If you're not running version 3 (1305.2012), please download and install the update using the link below:

Articulate - Storyline Update 3

Update 3 addressed some issues with memory errors, so hopefully installing that update will resolve the issue for you.

If it does not, please let us know.

Thanks!
