Hi Nicole,

How large, exactly? Can you give an example?

For the freezing issues you're seeing, can you tell me when the freezing occurs? Does it happen when trying open a file, modify a file, save, etc.?

Please make sure you're working with local files.

  • Work on your local drive (your C: drive). Working on a network drive or a USB drive can cause erratic behavior, including file corruption, loss of audio, and other unexpected behavior.
  • You should also make sure the directory path to your project files and your published output is less than 260 characters (for example C:\Articulate).
  • Avoid using special characters, accents or symbols in your file names.

Additional information regarding "Naming Files, Paths, and Namespaces" in Windows operating systems can be found in the following Microsoft article.

If the freezing continues with local files, please make sure you're using the latest update for Storyline:

I can understand, Nicole and would also get feedback of somebody who has a quick performing SL with "normal" or huge files (200 MB and above).

I am using SL 3 on two different computers and have freezing and slow reaction in different projects. For example I have 50 slides with graphics.

I am always working with local files. I couldn´t define a specific reason when happening except the more sheets and graphics the slower SL3 gets.

I even upgraded to 12 GB RAM, that resulted in a slightly better performance but still shows slow and delayed reaction (i.e. after zooming out, it is taking about 5 - 10 seconds until the sheet is being shown again).

Hello, T. Welcome to eLearning Heroes!

I'll defer to your fellow community members for recommended specs, but here's a link to the system requirements for Storyline 3 since this discussion is older.

Additionally, you mentioned freezing and slowness. That worries me, and that is a piece our Support Engineers would love to help investigate. If you go the case route, do share your case number with me, so I can follow along to share any relevant insight here!
