System requirements for Storyline
Oct 28, 2016
I am looking for advice on running Storyline 2 on a Mac Book Pro. I am currently using Virtual Box with Windows 7. I have 4GB RAM available on the Windows partition. Storyline runs VERY slowly. Since I have only started using Storyline I was unsure if this was the normal speed but I am sure this is not normal. I thought maybe I don't have enough RAM available, but the system requirements state 2GB, so I should have sufficient. Is this perhaps because I am using Virtual Box instead of Parallels?? Any assistance will be much appreciated.

Hi Charlotte!
I am not as familiar with VirtualBox as I am with Parallels and VMWare Fusion. However, we have had users mention using VirtualBox before. You might also find this popular article on the topic to be helpful.
I'm interested to hear from others in the community if they have experience with VirtualBox!
I've used Storyline 2 under VirtualBox for a couple of years, and have had perpetual issues with speed and memory usage. The available RAM fills up quickly, so we have to remember to delete all temp files and keep the Windows installation as lean as possible.
That said, I've turned out some very large SL projects with the setup, so it can be used. If anyone has compared Parallels or VMWare Fusion to VirtualBox, I'd be interested in hearing about it.
