Tables in Storyline 3?

Apr 05, 2017

Hi- I've downloaded SL3 and saw in the video tutorials that it has tables now. Excited to use this feature,  but I cannot locate them. The tables do not appear to be on the ribbon in the same spot as the videos suggest:

Any help on this is appreciated. Thank you.

Why release Storyline 3 if the tables tab is not ready? Wouldn't it make more sense to wait until that is a dedicated feature? I could really use that feature now on multiple projects I am working on and as  a dedicated Storyline user am a bit disappointed that you are advertising it as a feature but it isn't even available yet. :(

Hi Hayley,

We know we'll be adding new features to Storyline 3, but we also know that there are folks who were needing it sooner than later after seeing all the stuff that got pushed out with Storyline 360. We're hard at work on getting the tables feature out as soon as we can.

Also we've made a shift to share a bit more information about our roadmap ahead of time and are highlighting things to come on the "What's new" page in addition to other marketing emails - sorry if that caused any confusion about what's currently available and what's to come!

Here is my 2 cents on this - for a long time Articulate would not let us know what they were planning to release until it was released. People in the community kept asking them to be more transparent so I am very, very happy that they are now letting us know what is coming.

I would not like things to change back to the old way of doing things. I did review the What's New video for Storyline 3 and also thought that Tables were included in the release so maybe it is just a matter of being a littler clearer about what's included and what's to come.

Thanks, Ashley!  :)

We have our local Twin Cities Articulate User Group meeting tomorrow night (with Tom Kuhlmann and Nicole Legault as featured presenters).  I'm ready now if the question comes up on table support in SL360--as before introducing Tom and Nicole, I'll check to see if all the folks have heard about SL3.

(And, of course, always good to see and hear from Tom again.)

I know some of us were asking for table support right from the start when the first beta for SL1 began.  Be great to finally get it.  From Arlyn's video, it looks like another great feature implementation.   Can't wait . . .  :)

Will do!  :)

Tom and Nicole will actually be here in the Twin Cities to deliver one day-long presentation on Thursday and one-half day presentation on Friday.  Tom reached out and volunteered to have him and Nicole talk to our group in between those two events tomorrow night.  I know I'm preaching to the choir but always what a great guy and advocate for effective e-learning!

For me, the best thing about Articulate after all these many, many years has always been working with the people.   Has always been a great experience even when we "professionally disagreed" on something.  Class.

Woo-hoo PLUS!  Can't wait to try it out.

At our local Articulate User Group meeting last week, Tom Kuhlmann said I was one of the few people ardently asking for table support (since the first beta test release for SL1!!!!) and that they were adding table support just to "placate me".  I think he was pulling my leg by at least eight miles high.  :)  ;)   Lot of folks around here will be very happy and appreciative with table support.

I wonder, and I don't suspect we'll get this soon, if tables already in PowerPoint slides will also get imported into SL3/SL360 as SL tables.  That would be SUPER duper awesome.  If not, time for another feature request. :)

Was working on a course the last few days and had to do at least 20-30 screen grabs of tables created on PowerPoint slides and paste in as graphics in SL.   Being able to import them into SL as native tables would be super cool.

Typically it means it is a very complex feature that didn't quite make it for the initial release and needs a little more work to make it run reliably. Yeah, I looked for it too as I was also very excited about this feature. I came to this thread trying to see if there is a release date on the feature. No luck so far finding out when it will come out.
