tabs simulation

May 18, 2013

I was trying to create a simulation showing how to create tabs in Microsoft Word 10.  I was able to show how to set them on the ruler, but when I tried to have the simulation tab and type words to see the results, when I click "tab" in the simulation it does nothing.  How can I fix this or why does it not work? Is there something I am missing?

Thanks Brian

Hi Brian,

So I think you're saying that in Try It mode the tab key isn't working, yes?

I believe this is because Tab is reserved for Accessibility Mode; so pressing tab actually moves a highlighter around on the screen.

It's possible to remove this from objects on the slide by right-clicking the objects, selecting Size and Position from the shortcut menu, then clicking Alt Text in the dialog box on the left, and removing the checkmark from the "Object is visible to accessibility tools" checkbox.

BUT, I don't think there's a way to disable the other places the tab key highlights. Perhaps someone will respond with a workaround.
