Template as Slide Layout

Can you tell me more about what you're looking to do? Do you want to use the Timeline template from your other discussion to create a Slide Layout in the Slide Master?

Are you trying to add an image directly to your slide master using the placeholder?

Placeholders are designed to leave space for those items when you add them to an individual slide that is using that slide master. If you want to add an image to a slide master so that it'll appear on each slide using it, no need to use a placeholder, just add that image directly onto the slide master.
