Templates to work as a Master Slide?

Mar 20, 2014

Hi Forum,

I wonder if there is a way to apply a template on

already existing slides.

I have started out in the wrong way building my
project and adding lots and lotes of Notes to them.

I now find that my colleague have made an

excellent template that I would have much gain

in using.

The Dilemma:

1. Should I start over using his template when
inserting my new slides into my remade project?

or

2. Should I take and import his Template of Wonder

copy its content and paste it all over my existing

project.

OR

3. Is it - by ANY chance possible to sort of do a
"Master Slide-ish" thing with this fantastic template

and sort of pour it all over my project?

Perhaps you by now start to wonder why I simply
do not make a Master Slide and apply it on me slidies.

The template contains many layers, states and stuff that

I don't think is possible to fit in a master slide.

Any suggestions? Advice? Cheers?

/Patrik

Hi Patrik,

Depending what is on your template you could create them as master slides - but you'll also see when inserting a new template (Insert slide ->>Templates -> Choose the template(s)) that it will also create a new set of masters that correspond with that particular template and could be applied to other slides.  Since not all the elements will transfer to the master - I would typically recommend starting with the template first and then adding your content into it.

I'm having trouble making this work.  I have an existing presentation and I want to add slides that in a Storyline file that I saved as a template.  When i import the template to the presentation, it doesn't create a new slide master, the new slides use the slide master of the original file.  Any ideas on what I might be doing wrong?

Hi Patrik  - no worries, and glad I could point you towards some other resources.

Edward - I'd need to see it to test it out, but when I do it the slide masters created are not the entire template - just background elements and placeholders that I can see when going to the slide master view or right clicking on any slide and going to "layout" to see what's available. You'll also want to confirm that you're importing a template that is located on a local drive into a file that is located locally too. Also when you import them are you importing the slides themselves or adding a new slide using a template that is available within Storyline?
