Test mode steps - non-specific text answers

Jan 29, 2013

Hello!

I am working on creating some testing materal using test mode steps. I am having some issues when the user has to fill in certain fields such as date or employee ID. While making the videos, I use today's date and my ID, however I would like the employee to use the info relative to them.

Is there a way that I can adjust the answers to allow anything entered in the field to be recognized as correct? (I see there is a way to add multiple correct answers, however I can't enter every date or ID!)

Thank you very kindly for you help!

Welcome to E-Learning Heroes, Kevin!

I apologize for the delay in response. I think the problem here is that you're having them enter this in Test Mode. So, when you enter the content during recording, that's the response Storyline sees as "correct". When taking the test, this is the answer that's expected to be seen, in order for the learner to progress and/or receive a positive result.

However, I did think of something that may help a little with this. You could simulate this section, where you'd like to have the learner's information collected in another slide. Just take a screenshot of the screen with the fields you'd use to house this content, and create a text entry box over those fields. The learner doesn't really need to be marked right or wrong for this information, I assume, since this is going to be different for everyone that uses the course.

I'm sure there may be some more elegant ways to carry out what you'd like to do, maybe other community members will be able to give you some additional suggestions

Good luck with the project, Kevin! I'd like to see what you end up using for this.

Thanks!
